| March 3, 2010 Varsity Boys Season Recap
The Hill Boys Varsity hockey team wrapped up another very successful season on Sunday with an 8-3 trouncing of Cardinal O’Hara. Senior Sean Berry started off the scoring less than one minute into the contest. Goals were added by fellow seniors Kyle Drury with two and Brandon Fruchter had a hat trick and Ryan Sterrett with one. Junior forward Marcello DeAngelis added the final tally. The squad finished with a strong 14-11-1 record. |

| March 3, 2010 Girls Season Wrap Up
The Hill Girls Ice Hockey team had a great season this year. Our season began on a high note with our defeat of Holton Arms Academy 8-0. Although it was only the first game, the team played with a high level of teamwork that extended from our first game to our last. Throughout the season, win or lose, every player was positive and showed great love and respect for each other. The team’s chemistry this year was exceptional and I was proud to be a part of such a supportive and talented group of girls. |

| February 24, 2010 The Goon Squad
This year’s Boy’s Varsity ‘B’ hockey team did not bring home the IHL trophy. Although we did not achieve our ultimate goal this season, we accomplished success both on and off the pond. With key returners such as PJ “Flowseidon” Mara ‘10, and John “Beaver” Oberbeck ‘10, leadership was at a surplus. Through inspirational speeches, rants, and even the occasional recital of Edgar Allen Poe, John Oberbeck sparked the energy, and bestowed the will to win, in each and everyone one of us. Through his flow, and fine character Co-Captain PJ Mara, lead our squad to a 4-13-1 record. |

Ice Chips Newsletter Spring/Summer 2010 -- Redux
We thought it would a good idea to put together a new version of the Spring,/Summer Ice Chips Newsletter because there's lots of news since our last message. If some of you've seen the info before, please forgive. Here goes. The puck stops here!
Nate Yinger '05 has pretty much finalized, with help from Stan Frantz '71, the complete compilation of team records and recorder holders from the entire history of Hill Hockey! The records are now pretty accurate with a few mistakes no doubt. Check them out, old Pottstown pucksters, in the For the Record section under the tab Archives on the Home page! If you see something questionable,,, sign in and let us know!
1976-77 Team - Winningest Hill Hockey Team ever!
The Pins are in! All members of the HHA will be receiving their lapel pins with the HHA logo via the mail. HHA President Paul Oberbeck will be sending them out real soon, with the help of the great folks in the Alumni Office. Paul officiated the induction of graduating seniors into the HHA (boys and girls) at the year-end banquet in March. Thanks to Rob Isham '70 and Julie Kalis for spearheading the effort. President Paul, who was at the graduation as most of you know, saw many of those pins on the lapels of our graduating boys and girls hockey players!
In other news, Michael J. Brofft '09 was recently named winner of the Nickels W. Huston Memorial Award as Rookie of the Year on the Williams College hockey team. Congratulations Mr. Brofft from everyone at the HHA!

Perhaps most important, there's good news about Wes Schlauch '12 and his efforts to come back from the stroke he suffered this past winter. The fundraiser in Bethlehem was a huge success. HHA donated items and members did their part, with more to come I'm sure. Wes has along way to go so keep him in your prayers and send whatever donations you can. We're evaluating the FASTHockey portion of our site. We hope to set up video in a better spot to capture next year's games and how to get more participation from our gang.
Last but not least, thanks to everyone who donated to the HHA during the season. We hope all members will make whatever donation they can right now so we can help the school plan for making more great Hill Hockey History this coming year. Every dollar helps the cause!!! Hill Hockey needs you!!! Monies are tight for the things we need to do for Hill Hockey and Hill sports in general. C'mon, help this great cause! We are the Brotherhood and Sisterhood of Hill Hockey!

White Trounces Blue 8-6 in Annual Alumni Match-Up
While Old Man Winter ripped up the Atlantic Seabord last weekend, shutting down the Nation's capital (thank goodness!) and cancelling all school athletic events and even the Bissell Wrestling Dedication (pity!), the Annual Hill School Hockey Alumni Skate powered on as scheduled last Saturday, February 6, 2010 with 14 skaters returning for the annual matchup with the addition of Varsity players and their coaches providing the competition.

The Annual Meeting of the Hill Hockey Association took place Saturday, February 6th, in the "LaBranche Memorial Concourse" immediately after the skate. A skeleton quorum existed as a result of the snowstorm but the meeting progressed with alacrity with the following matters accomplished:

January 27, 2010 The Amazing History of Hill Hockey -- In PhotosThe '76-'77 Boys Varsity Hockey Team posted one of the most impressive records in the history of all prep and high school hockey. They recorded a 21-2 record and Dan Brugman '77 scored 45 goals along with 50 assists. His line, which included Capt. Dave Tenney and Bruce Bollinger, scored nearly 200 points. They won nearly every tournament they entered across the landscape of eastern hockey. The team's accomplishments are a true testament to their skills and the genius of Coach Eccleston. Our hats are off to them, covering the ice the way caps do after a hat trick! The HHA has uploaded and posted incredible new files of hockey team photos and action shots going back to the early nineteenth century. Nate Yinger '05 worked on the project most of the summer and pulled off the impossible. It's an amazing walk through time and we're sure you'll enjoy the journey. September 28, 2009 A Skate with “Leapin’ Lou”As of 2009 the National Hockey League has 30 teams. You may know, have met or even been one of its more than 600 players. They are an elite group, to be sure, but hardly as rare as when I played hockey for The Hill in 1952-56. There were but six NHL teams then with no American players. Not even goaltenders wore helmets, so if you went to a game or watched on television, players were easy to recognize. That may help to explain why the memory of my workout with “Leapin’ Lou” Fontinato remains so vivid. |

We are very happy for the support of the Hill Hockey Association. Since the very impressive rink fund-raising campaign during which George Knapp mobilized so many of you to make the Hall-Eccleston Rink a reality, our hockey supporters have built a community that enriches our program. One great example is the revived alumni game (usually the 2nd weekend in February). On the ice, alumni and friends of the program show what skills they have left, revive old friendships, and make new ones. When we adjourn to a local establishment for food and drink, the camaraderie continues.
I know that the leaders of HHA will do all they can to improve the Hill Hockey experience for our current players, while at the same time enjoying and sharing the experience themselves. Like the alumni game, HHA’s website is an opportunity to both relive the past glories of Mr. Hall and Mr. Eccleston’s program and also keep up with the team’s recent accomplishments.
